This week marks the 15th anniversary of our adoption trip. 15 years ago I was packing for a trip to Russia to go and get my little girl. I had no idea the twists and turns that voyage would take, and how we would be stranded for a month, while we waited for additional paperwork to show to judge.
I also had no idea how much fear I would face upon becoming a mother. Our decision to adopt, completing the entire process and forcing myself onto a Russian plane bound for Siberia was a breeze compared with the wave of fear that overtook me when I finally grasped what I had gotten myself into.
But I did it anyway. Parenting is scary business. I’m honored to be included as one of the Babble Voices and have shared my leap into the chaos that is family and a bit of our Russian adoption story with my launch of my “Casa de Chaos” blog today.
