Don’t you love those recipes that allow you to take a box of plain ol cake mix, and turn it into so much more? This could not be easier!
Ingredients:
- Vanilla Cake Mix & extra ingredients to prepare mix
- Nutella
- Vanilla
- Extra Egg
Start with the box of your favorite cake mix. Since I am Gluten Free I used a classic vanilla cake bagged mix from Pamela’s Products. This mix is super yummy! Even if you can eat wheat, you won’t miss it. I’ve been using it as the base for family birthday cakes ever since I stopped eating wheat.
Prepare according to package direction (with an extra egg and some extra vanilla if you want to make it extra rich). Fill paper cupcake cups 3/4 full with the batter
Decision Time: If you want a swirled effect, you should heat up your Nutella a little in the microwave and use a skewer to swirly-ize it after you add. If you want a nugget of Nutella in the center of your cupcake, don’t heat it!
Spoon Nutella into each cup. Bake as directed. Hide cupcakes from your teenager and her friends.
Note: These are pretty rich w/out frosting. But if you must, I recommend a vanilla buttercream. The chocolate in the middle should stand out as a special surprise!
Disclosure: I just ate four cupcakes in two days. I was not compensated. I got nothing for free to try. But I’m gonna pay for this cupcake folly!

They sound delicious! I’m seriously debating heading to the kitchen now to make some!
They are SO good. I think you should make some 🙂
