Have you heard the news? Thanksgiving and Hanukkah are coming to town. It’s a Maccabee Turkey Day and this is cause to celebrate just a little more. So let’s be thankful for family holidays, fab food, a sense of humor and good chocolate gelt. This holiday mash up won’t happen for a few thousand more years.
Despite the fact that it’s not happening again any time soon, a holiday this awesome requires its own theme decor and specialized menu. There are DIY Menorahs waiting to happen here. We stepped up.
Who ever said Jews are not crafty? They have not met our Hanukkah Pilgrim or Dreidel Boss. We crafted our Jewish Pilgrim and Dreidel Boss Turkey from clearance finds at HomeGoods. The turkey was spray painted a festive light blue and the Pilgrim was painted and embellished. Perfect for our Thanksgivukkah table!
Note: The Thanksgivukkah Pilgrim and Dreidel Boss Turkey both still need names. Do us a favor & leave suggestions in comments!?
On to the food. Thankgiving and Hanukah seem like a foodie match made in heaver. We will be serving my friend Tali’s delicious Corn Kugel this year. Click through for the recipe.
I’m also serving these yummy Rosemary Latke Totkes with Goat Cheese and Cranberry Relish. Delish. Don’t panic about all that grating and frying. These little guys are actually doctored up Trader Joes tater tots! Gluten free, tasty and foolproof. People won’t guess that these Latkes were once Totkes.
Don’t have a lot of time to decorate? Stick a turkey on your menorah and do the hora. It’s a fast and inexpensive way to get festive.
But if you are in the mood to do just teensy bit more legwork…. check out our awesomely improvised Squirrel DIY Menorah and Turkey DIY Thanksgivukkah Menorah. Click through for pix!
