After over a decade of diaper bag toting, it’s hard to do/find anything truly new and exciting. But one company, freshly arrived from the UK, has brought the whimsy back for me. Maybe it’s because they don’t call them diaper bags. These are  Pink Lining Nappy bags. No, not that kind of Nappy, though I could use a Nap. Nappy is British for diaper.  Diaper is a word I am all too familiar with. Nappy bag sounds so much nicer. See… it’s different already!

Pink Lining bags succeed for me not only because of their well planned utility, but because of their charm. This line was created lovingly with graceful, slightly nostalgic prints and details that distinguish it from the rest. Designer Charlotte Pearl has put her mark on Pink Lining bags with little niceties like a stretchy striped tether for your keys, a tiny mirror for Mum to check her lipstick and plenty of well designed pockets and compartments, to hold every last little thing you need to drag along with you.

The bag’s diaper/nappy pockets are generous enough to hold cloth diapers and there are not one but two insulated pockets  internally. Of course there is also that signature pink lining, preventing you from losing your mind searching in a black hole. Changing pads and wipes case (with cute cupcake logo) are also included.

Pink Lining bags come in a number of flavors and sizes and have playful, uniquely British phrases like “Truly Scrumptious” (Norland Tote) and “Blooming Gorgeous” on some of them. It’s sure to make you smile but if you are looking for something a little more buttoned up, there are satchels without quotes. Their Grey Bows bags pictured above are some of their most popular to date.

I received a “Yummy Mummy” bag in order to complete this review. The Yummy Mummy bags have a sweet cupcake theme. Like almost all the Pink Lining bags, these bags are made from a practical coated canvas, with webbing handles and D rings on the side to adapt into a messenger with a longer included strap. These bags are sturdy and hold up well to life’s daily abuses. I love the floral print on mine and the little toadstools which are also for me, very British-y. It’s all very Alice in Wonderland-y reminiscent and yet, it dovetails into my daily life, where I could use a little magic and smiles of course! If someone wants to call me a Yummy Mummy, so be it. Here in So. Cal all things British are so beloved and I’d say trendy, but our love affair with London seems to be ongoing, and not waning any time soon.

Thus it’s not surprising that these bags are very hot in Hollywood at the moment as well. Actress Kelly Rutherford adores hers and several other A-listers have been receiving them as baby gifts from their stylists and friends.

If you care to watch the above video, you will get a detailed look inside my bag!

In order to celebrate their US launch, Pink Lining wanted to do something special. They want their US customers to experience not only the benefits of carrying a great, thoughtful bag. They’ve taken that attention to detail and thoughtfulness to the next level with the Nappy Station Location App.  It’s a perfect way to find the best changing location near you. Pink Lining is collecting and sharing vital information about changing stations nationwide. Come Spring, they’ll be recognizing the best with a Nappy Award. Got a location near you to share? Now is a great time to enter your favorites! You could really be helping a fellow parent out during this holiday travel season. You could also be winning an iPad for yourself! Each location entered serves as an entry to win an iPad or one of several bags available for the giveaway.

Disclosure: I have worked as a consultant for Pink Lining and have conducted blogger outreach on their behalf. I also stalked them for their bags years before they came to the US. So this has been a bit of a dream job for me.
