I first encountered Doc G (aka Deborah Gilboa) on YouTube and Twitter. I was amazed by her simple and effective parenting tips. What got me was that her solutions were never preachy or complicated. They didn’t involve parenting pretzel twists and elaborate systems. They involved common sense and whole lot of forehead smacking moments for me.

This was parenting advice I could slip into, like a comfortable pair of jeans, exclaiming loudly, “It fits! It fits!” for all the world to hear.

Fortunately for the world, Doc G has taken her sensible and comfortable parenting advice and poured it into a book, that is now available for purchase.

I don’t often recommend parenting books. I’m wary about them. I don’t believe there are one size fits all solutions in parenting. But one of the first things Doc G says is, “You are the experts on your children.”

Bingo.

Deborah Gilboa, MD,  draws on her experience as a family physician and a mother of four to provide practical, age-appropriate strategies for parents of children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years dealing with the most common parenting problems, including:

  • How can I get my child to stop whining?
  • Why can’t these kids get along?
  • Should we pay our children to do chores?

Plus over 60 more challenges.

With her signature blend of humor and real-world advice, Dr. G offers a roadmap of quick, concrete ways to help parents use everyday opportunities to create respectful, responsible, and resilient children–without screaming, nagging, guilt, or guesswork.

I can’t recommend this book (and Doc G’s YouTube Channel too) enough to you. It’s going to make parenting a lot more positive for you and your kids! Find out more about Get the Behavior You Want…Without Being the Parent You Hate on Doc G’s Website.
