The chocolate workshop at the Galita Chocolate Farm at Kibbutz Deganya (by the Sea of Galilee) is one of the sweetest family friendly activities that you can book for your brood when visiting Israel.
This hands on workshop will introduce your whole family (all ages welcome) to the joy of chocolate crafting. Touching and tasting are encouraged.
Your workshop begins with a choice of chocolate crafts including chocolate bars, chocolate filled truffles, shaped chocolate lollipops and even a chocolate house. If you are not sure which to choose, you will find inspiration all around in the shop full of handmade artisan chocolates.
Suit up in a plastic apron and head back to the workroom where friendly workers will bring out all the supplies you need and guide you in your efforts. There’s no way to mess up. No matter what you are guaranteed your creation will taste wonderful.

I had so much fun getting creative with the chocolate, drizzling white chocolate on the back of my bar and sprinkling sprinkles. I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood. I’d book it for birthday parties and girl’s nights out.
The Chocolate factory and workshop is on Kibbutz grounds but it is not a part of the kibbutz. Still, it’s a chance to visit a kibbutz and tell your kids a little bit about what it might be like to live at one. The workers, who mostly do live on the kibbutz, are friendly and open and chatted with us about Deganya.
When you are finished with your creation, the staff will take it off to chill and be packaged. You can watch a short film about the history of chocolate making, treat yourself to a delicious gelato in the shop, and go shopping for hand crafted chocolates to bring home for gifts.
