Summer is my favorite. The long days, the beach, the kids running in and out of the house in search of another packet of waterballoons as I sit here trying to get some work done.
I love everything about summer except the fact that it’s usually edging up on 7pm when we all realize that we are STARVING and oh yeah… I still have to make dinner.
Thanks to Philips for supplying an Airfryer for me to review. All opinions are my own.
The Philips Airfryer has saved me time and time again this summer.
This device worked it’s magic right out of the box. The first time I used it I recklessly announced “HOT DOGS & FRENCH FRIES!” and the whole neighborhood showed up to eat dinner here. I periscoped the first time I made fries (our first Airfryer attempt and a success) and you can see the video below.
It took me less than half an hour to heat packaged hot dogs and frozen fries to crispy perfection in the air fryer. My only issue was having to make three more batches as stray french fry seeking children started arriving on my doorstep like kittens in search of a saucer of milk.
Since then I have expanded my repetoire.
There is the chicken that has become a staple. Not just for my kids, but for me. I’m trying to eat healthier and up my protein. I’ll admit that I’m not the best at cooking chicken breasts and buying fresh roasted chicken can get pricey. But all this summer I’ve been marinating chicken breasts (or even frozen tenders) for a couple of hours in a mix of:
- 1/4 C Olive oil
- Lemon juice of 1 Lemon
- 1 Tsp Herbs de Provence
- Salt & Pepper
I pat the chicken dry when I am ready to cook it, and toss in the air fryer for about ten min at 360 (depends on how much chicken) and a few more minutes at 390 and viola! Perfect crispy outside juicy inside roast chicken every single time in 15-20 min. I always make extra to add to a salad with lunch.
Anyone can use this device – even my teenagers. The Philips Airfryer is how incredibly easy to use and pretty self explanatory even without the recipe booklet and instructions (though I should note – I did read the instructions!)
There’s dozens of great recipes that come with the device and even more online but it’s also very easy to figure out your own recipes. With two temperature settings and a timer – I find I can improvise on my own by using the time/temp guidelines for similar foodstuffs and just checking for doneness.
Philips has a very informative video about how the Airfryer works (MAGIC!)
What I love, LOVE about it for summer is that it is microwave fast, grill/fryer tasty and easier to clean than either of those cooking methods. The lack of mess and scrubbing is the frosting. You simply slide out the drawer and detach the fryer basket. Basket and drawer are both easy to quickly soak and scrub with a sponge or brush. About the same amount of time it takes to clean a pasta pot, our other easy go-to meal, that is far less healthy!
I’m not done telling you about my love of the airfryer. Stay tuned for my recipe for a whole head of crispy, spicy fried/roasted cauliflower, a dramatic and delicious side disht that’s easy to accomplish with this amazing device!
