Last week Babble Voices Vlogger Ali Wentworth discussed her decisions to pursue plastic surgery to correct her under eye “bags”. I love the way she talked about kids calling it like it is. My son is the first to tell me that “Grown ups have big bellies!” while poking my pudge. Apropos as he’s the source of at least some of that extra flesh!
There’s been a lot of discussion about plastic surgery in general over there and I decided to tackle a topic that’s been dogging my household lately. While I’m totally fine with some minor procedures (and openly share the one that I had done about a decade ago) for ME, I am not ok with the idea of my daughters going under the knife, at all.
Think I’m being hypocritical? Click through to my plastic surgery post on my Casa de Chaos Babble Voices blog.

I think that it is inappropriate for a teenager, or anyone that is perhaps under a certain age, to undergo plastic surgery. It takes YEARS to become comfortable in one’s own skin, and to learn to love yourself just the way you are. Plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons for anything other than correcting a deformity at a young age is really not appropriate in my eyes. I’ve thought a lot about plastic surgery, and almost have gone under the knife several times for breast augmentation or for rhinoplasty. I have not gone through with either one of those procedures, and I’m glad that I haven’t. Perhaps I will in the future, but now that I’m in a healthy marriage, I’ve had three children, and I feel as if I truly know myself I feel like if I did make the decision to make a change it would be completely appropriate and within reason.
so glad Ali W. is going to do that. She has needed it for years. I’m all for a little chop chop, as long as you don’t look like the cat woman
