I have a daybed in my guest bedroom. I wanted some luxe oversized pillows on the daybed. I searched high and low. All the textiles I loved were $100 plus per pillow. Not the greatest news when you need five.
I was able to pick up some down euro squares for a more than reasonable price at Ikea, but the covers… the hunt continued.
Here’s the thing: I can sew, but I don’t love to sew. Just because you CAN doesn’t mean you should have to. It’s hard work cutting and measuring and getting everything all square and perfect! It’s so much easier to just buy what you want.
But then the solution came to me. I was shopping at world market and saw these gorgeous patterned towels on sale for less than $10 each.
No cutting or measuring. I folded them in half and straight seamed the two sides. On the third side I left just enough of a slit to get the pillows in and out. No zipper needed. The opening doesn’t really show when they are lined up on the bed.
These towels are so thick and beautiful and plush, nobody even realizes they are towels! I don’t like to have to make stuff, but I’m glad when I can do it in under and hour and save hundreds of bucks.
Sometimes creativity is a win.
Bonus points for how easily these wash up.
