Planning our snacks on the go at home is easy. I have snack stashes in the car, in my purse and in each of my kid’s backpacks. We’re on the go so often that this is essential. Impromptu play-dates at the beach, park and pool, school trips, errands, carpool… you just never know when someone might start flagging. That someone, incidentally, might include me!
I have rigorous standards for our family’s snacks.
They need to be gluten free (for me), preservative free, healthy and include ingredients found in nature, rather than a lab. Bonus points for being free of common allergens like nuts as we like to share snacks with friends. I’m partial to snacks that generate less mess. And of course, our snacks have to be delicious.
Shelf stability is important too. I cannot replenish everyone’s stash daily. Consider this classic equation:
Mashed bananas x bruised apples that nobody wants to eat = sibling fight waiting to happen + junk food sneak attack
Snacks must be able to survive for a week in backpack worn by a wee Ninja impersonator.
GoGo squeeZ seems to be the answer to my snack prayers. It’s even a little hydrating. Bonus!
Sometimes I wonder how I lived without it. Like when I’m planning a trip to Florida, to Disneyworld. I honestly started to panic a little about how we’d manage to stay saucy without our sauce when I was packing.
Much as I love theme parks I am wary of their food traps. There is a lot of sticky chocolate covered ice cream, no end to processed sugary treats and plenty of greasy fried stuff to feed the kids there. Just the sort of stuff that guarantees a meltdown by mid day. All that junk food is expensive too.
Briefly I considered lining my luggage with GoGo squeeZ pouches. But the weight and burst potential made it unrealistic. Fortunately, after doing a little research I found a solution. I arranged for a local grocery delivery to bring some of our favorite snacks, including GoGo squeeZ, right our hotel room.
We laid in a nice stock of breakfast, snack and allergy (gluten free for me) free items and I’m convinced this made all the difference in the world!
It’s worth calling ahead to your hotel to see if you can arrange for a delivery of healthy snacks when you travel. You’ll save money, time and ensure a more playful time is had by all.
Here’s my son digging Dino bones at the T-Rex Cafe. He passed on the Corn Dogs and waved away the Waffle Fries. Straight to the sandpit to dig… GoGo squeeZ in hand. That’s what I’m talking about!
GoGo squeeZ has recently unveiled some fun and colorful new packaging. They also announce some great new flavors that we cannot wait to try, including Apple Mango. Like them on Facebook to be sure to hear about special offers, news, creative ideas for outdoor play with kids and sweeps – including a chance to win a trip to Disneyworld for your family!
Disclosure: I have partnered with GoGo squeeZ as a member of the squeeZ squad. Over the next few
months I will be helping them pass the play. All opinions are my own. So lovely to have the opportunity to work with an awesome brand whose products we were already buying by the caseload (at Costco – ftw!).
