As a young child I can remember my grandmother making Macrame projects for all her friends and family members. Mostly her projects consisted of plant holders that were plain and kinda ugly (sorry grandma).
I bumped into an old friend last week, and she was wearing a shirt made entirely of Macrame! I had no idea you could make shirts with it. So that got me thinking… What else can you make with Macrame – and boy was I surprised.

Sure you could make most of this stuff yourself. Or, if you believe in child labor you could try to convince your kids that you were playing “camp” and teach them a bunch of knots. There’s even a lot of cool patterns out there for the DIY inclined. But then again, you probably would prefer to hang in a chair and not make a chair if your summer is going anything like mine. So here’s where to buy the cool macrame stuff that is currently on everyone’s design radar.
