La ciudad de Santa Ana is a place of rich culture, diversity, and artistic expression. One of the city’s best examples of this is “Noche De Altares” (Night Of Altars). This community based celebration commemorates the day of the dead. El Centro Cultural De Mexico will proudly host this annual celebration this Saturday, November 7th in the heart of Santa Ana- calle cuatro (fourth street).
Stimulate all your senses with the authentic sight and sounds of Mexico by celebrating this unique dia festivo. This incredible event will offer live performances, music, traditional food, and street vendors. This year’s headliner will be Los Jornaleros Del Norte.
The city comes alive at Noche De Altares. My chiquitos are exposed to el sabor de Mexico. They also learn more about their splendid heritage and history. Attendees come from afar to share stories of their abuelos, familias, loved ones, and struggles. Last year over forty thousands were in attendance.
About Dia De Los Muertos (Day Of The Dead)
“Dia De Los Muertos” is a traditional holiday celebrated in Mexico. It includes the creation of private altars called ofrendas. These decorated altars honor the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these gifts.
I personally look forward to the elaborate altars. This year over one hundred will be on display. These magnificent creations are all unique and tell a story of deceased loved ones. Some altars are used for artistic expression, and others to highlight social justice issues.
At sundown, La Catrina procession begins and she lights up a candle at each alter.

The mystical Aztec dancers bless the event with their ceremonial dance.
You don’t want to miss this fun filled magical event! This grand celebration is organized by community volunteers and the proceeds go to El Centro Cultural De Mexico.
