I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about #BetterHealthMadeEasy and how to #FindYourHealthy. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
I love making holiday and party crafts for my family but sometimes I, ummm… go a little too overboard, and create more stress than necessary. That’s not so healthy. But this “Snacktivity” is!
Inspired by the healthy Gold Emblem and Gold Emblem Abound snacks at CVS, I came up with a relatively stress free way to both dress up snacks and bring along a soothing, snappy activity for this 4th of July. My kids always get antsy and hungry while waiting for fireworks to start and I cannot wait to pass these around.

I seem to find myself at CVS on a near daily basis. There are CVS stores on either end of my community and we stop there for every kind of last minute item imaginable – from beauty, to meds, to snacks and cards and party decor. Just about everything you need for this 4th of July Snack craft is available inexpensively at CVS, if you don’t already have it around the house, and if the exact same item isn’t there, there’s a substitution – like curling ribbon instead of tinsel. But back to snacks…

My family loooooves the Gold Emblem and Gold Emblem Abound line of nuts at CVS right now. They are healthy and delicious and a great value too. I love the variety and the zipped bags are great to toss into a bag or backpack. I picked up a bunch more last night and had to snap a pic!
These treats are super easy to assemble in just a few minutes, with or without help:
Measure and cut your paper that you will use to cover the tubes. I did three sheets at a time, marking on my construction paper and folding, then cutting. Set this aside.

Trace a circle and cut paper for the cones on the top of the poppers. I used a small ceramic pot for tracing. Anything round and about 4-5 inches in diameter will do.

Cut a slit in the circles and spiral them inwards to create a little cone shaped hat. Secure with tape.

Trim a few lengths of twine to about 10 inches

Fill baggies with healthy nutty snacks fromGold Emblem and Gold Emblem Abound. Just a little bit – these are individual servings and these nutty snacks are quite filling in small doses. Tape a length of twine to the baggie.

Tape the top of the tube with a couple of pieces of tape to keep the baggie from dropping all the way thru then turn it upside down and insert the baggie, letting the string “fuse” dangle.

Now it’s time to insert the “poppy” part. Take a piece of bubble wrap and shove it in the tube around the string, to hold the nuts in. You can stick a piece of tape here too if you want to secure it a little. It will not withstand a good tug and that is ok.

Tape some tinsel or some fringed crepe paper around the end of the tube with the string sticking out. Tinsel is a little annoying to work with, but adds so much bling, I could not resist.

Wrap the precut paper around the tube and secure with rubber bands. That was easy! No tape and the bands make these look more like little TNT “bundles”.
.
Tape the cones on the top. I did a little claw hand maneuver here to hold three pieces of tape that then fold down and attach to the underside of the cone. It’s not the most secure but it doesn’t have to be. These are going to be consumed.

Add a tag that says “pull me”. I created tags from a cut up plate I had from last year’s celebration. You don’t have to be super fancy here!

Optional: Decorate with stickers or have your kids color the paper before you make the poppers. You don’t have to get out a glue gun or buy specialty papers to make this cute craft!
Didn’t these come out adorable? For such an easy craft with such simple, common materials, I was really please with them! No stress! Plus popping bubble wrap relieves stress, so be sure to save some for yourself and bring some extra to the fireworks to entertain your crew while waiting for the show to start.
Please share your cute 4th of July snack activity poppers with me if you decide to make them!
