Is it ever possible to have too many talismans?
I’ve tried to figure out what I love about my Alex and Ani bracelet collection. It’s not the brand named-ness of them. I realize that they will peak and fall out of fashion, probably sooner than later. But in the meantime I will enjoy them. Probably even after they’ve fallen from favor, I will love them still. I will look at the charms and touch memories.
They let me tell a story on my arm.
I’ve never been one to flash a lot of jewelry. Unless, of course the jewelry has a tale to tell. Then I happily pile it on. Because this one is for a city I visited, and that one was when I faced a huge fear. This one brought me luck and that one gave me wings.
Maybe I was a witch in a past life. Just looking at these on display makes me happy. I like to combine them for each occasion. Tonight I need wisdom, health and wanderlust… When they are not in use, they are on display in my closet, stored on an old upcycled marble rolling pin.
I used to make jewelry. Now I mix and match. Sometimes even mixing metals. It’s never the same old story.
