Dining at the Discovery Shores Boracay Resort’s restaurants proved to be a highlight of our recent trip to Boracay Island. With every meal we were welcomed by name by staff, who noted our preferences and made us feel at home. Primarily we ate at the resort’s Sands Restaurant where everything we ordered, tasted and consumed was splendid – from the fresh pressed juice at the lavish breakfast buffet, to the made to order (and allergy friendly for me) roast chicken.
Thanks to the Discovery Shores Boracay Resort for hosting our family for a dinner, and me for the boodle fight experience. All opinions are my own.
When my son had a sore throat, they even made him a special bowl of soup.
However, I think my favorite meal at Discovery Shores Boracay was the Boodle Feast/Fight.
Boodle fights are a traditional meal/feast that are eaten with your hands, and no utensils. The food is served directly onto the table atop runners or platters of banana leaves. There is a certain etiquette to serving yourself and different styles for scooping up and eating your food. The reason it is referred to as a “fight” is because of the meal’s history. When food was served in this fashion to hungry soldiers, it was a fight to grab the food for yourself.
Our experience of the Boodle Fight was far more civilized and gourmet. We were offered lemon water to cleanse our hands before and after the meal, and a bowl of soup as a starter. The food was a dazzling display of rice and seafood, along with fresh cut fruit kabobs on skewers. It really was an edible work of art and something to experience!
Even if you don’t have time to experience the Boodle Fight, you won’t be disappointed by your meals. All of our food was artfully plated and presented.
Eating beachside with a view of the sand and waves made our meal more memorable.
Lots of hotel restaurants cater to their guests but the spirit of the staff and attention to detail at Discovery Shores really made a difference for us during our stay. They really and truly cared about our comfort and wanted us to feel at home at welcome. Everyone that we spoke to was beyond helpful and accommodating to our taste preferences and willing to accommodate minor recipe changes/request due to allergies. Since all of the food was prepared fresh, this was not too difficult.
The hotel also offers a high tea, beachside that is popular with guest. We’re saving that for a return visit!
