We’re heading to Disneyland for a little spring break fun. Why not dress up our luggage as well?

These luggage tags are fun, colorful and a great second life for beloved books. Making them is quick, easy, and requires no special tools or skills.

We picked up this well loved Wall E book at a secondhand store for 99 cents. It became these six adorable luggage tags in a little under an hour.

Ready to begin? Here’s the things you’ll need:

A board book or two that you don’t mind re-purposing, some plastic laces, pony beads, a hole punch, a sharpie and a pair of scissors.

I started out by separating the “pages” and then cut around the images I wanted to use as tags. No need to make them perfect. I just cut free form shapes.

These are not the best scissors, but they did the trick.

The so-so scissors left a slightly rough edge. No problem. Some superfine sandpaper smoothed it out in ten seconds flat. So satisfying to smooth the rough edges and make them silky smooth.

Plenty of room on the back to write our vital info. Don’t forget to tie on the laces. Some beads can’t hurt.

These really came out adorable, didn’t they?

Now I’m going to be looking for additional books to turn into tags. I think I saw an Ariel one at the thrift store…
