Actually your cat doesn’t want to dress up. I’m lying. Most cats don’t favor fancy dress and need a fair amount of cajoling. I learned this the hard way when I was 7 and dressed my cat in doll clothes and pushed it in around the neighborhood in a vintage wooden doll stroller. Sure there were wounds involved, but it was worth it. My only regret is that the internet was not yet invented and thus I have very limited photographic evidence of these events.
That said, I still like dressing up cats. Possibly not in full dolly dress, prudent pet owners know that less is more. Why do we do this?
There are few things more comical that cats in costumes, giving their humans the “I’m barely tolerating you” side eye. I do not advocate actually torturing your pet. But if you are game, have some treats and a camera ready. These costumes are the cream of the Etsy crop. Literally…. the cat’s pajamas.

Etsy Shop To Scarborough Fair contains a great many adorable cat caps (including the witch above) but this wee captain’s hat for cats was the one that got me. Got two cats or more? You could recreate the whole Love Boat crew.
The Red Queen (or King) Cat
Simply Sphinx has some fantastic cat clothes that appear to fit cats a great deal better than my old doll clothes did. Their costumes are also divine.
