A certain famous blogger I know is well known for showing up at blogger conferences with her confidence wig. Me? I have a confidence bag. The last few big conferences and events I’ve been to, that bag has been the Belen Echandia New York Satchel. It has a matte gray snake print that goes with almost everything and a bold print lining that makes it easy to find whatever I’m looking for inside. It’s my security bag.

I find myself in some pretty amazing places of late. Pinching myself. And stressing out about what to wear. It would be easy to overthink the wardrobe and panic. But I don’t. I break out the good leather. Whether I’m going to be poolside, in a conference room or a theater. Whether I’m going to be having cocktails with celebs or conversing with CEOs. I know I can do it. In style.
What I love about my Belen Echandia bags are that they are superbly made artisanal items. These are not mass produced. They are lovingly crafted by a human being for another human being. In my case, a human being who is no longer panicking about what she’ll wear to possibly meet Don Draper*
Belen Echandia bags are luxury, handmade goods that are full of personality. I appreciate that they are not department store designer bags. Frankly I could be wearing a simple shift dress from Target – which I would do, if the fit was fine. I’m not abou the label. I’m about the quality and the overall look. The rest of my outfit almost doesn’t matter, when I have a bag like that on my arm. I’m carried along by BE’s good graces. It’s the shot of style and the shot of confidence I need. Wherever, whenever. I guess I’m spilling my secret now.
But I’m not about to sacrifice style for function either. Otherwise I’d been teetering in high heels and a dress that requires a lot of double sided tape. My style is not all that whimsical. I know that Belen Echandia bags are built to be used and I am hard on them. They stand up to it. At any given event I will be carrying an ipad, iphone, notebooks, cosmetics case (theirs snaps out) business cards and more.
