My daughter’s math book was looking a little worse for wear. It wasn’t in the best of shape when she got it and it’s not getting better.
She wanted to cover it up, but she didn’t want it to be boring.
We used a hot pink Victoria’s Secret shopping bag and she was so pleased with the results that we thought we’d share a tutorial.
Start with a large sized bag and remove the handles and any re-enforcements made of cardboard.
Deconstruct the bag, taking care to keep the longest length possible intact. Cut down one corner and along the bottom to open it up flat.
You’ll want to away the bottom bits, to get a long straight length of covering material, but this can wait till after you measure…
Roll the book to judge the length you will need. Add four inches per side so the cover can wrap around to the inside of the book jacket. Trim to length and trim off any remaining bottom pieces. NOTE: the height of the cover should be at least four inches taller than the height of the book. You’ll be folding along the long edge to match the height of the book in the next step.
Make sure the height is just a wee tiny little bit more than the height of the book. You’ll see why you need wiggle room in the next step.
Fit the book cover over the book. Slide down four inches and wrap around the book and fit over the other side as well. It’s easier to do this if you wrap it around first to measure where the wrap is and fold it, then fit onto the book while it is laid open on the table. Close the book to ensure a smooth and tight fit.
Add tape along the bottom edges if you want to reinforce the cover.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much! Worked so well<3
Did you have to buy a lot to get the large bag or did you just ask for one?
We just asked!
