Trying to plan a quick So Cal family getaway can be a little tricky, particularly if you have kids of different ages and interests and if you have any intentions whatsoever of getting in a little rest and relaxation for yourself.

We’ve all been on that vacation that starts with the best of intentions and ends with just a little too much togetherness, right? Don’t let that happen to you again. Plan a So Cal getaway with room to stretch and activities that appeal to all, and come home a vacation hero.

Plan a trip to the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa

Thanks to the Renaissance for hosting us for a family weekend getaway.

We recently visited the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa for a refresher course on “something for everyone.”

Poolside Renaissance Indian Wells

In my case – the main something was time spent poolside, and a massage. I’m so busy all the time and the opportunity to relax and read a book is a rare and welcome thing.

My kids on the other hand, were all about the lavish pool and waterfalls. They loved the opportunity to roast marshmallows and make S’mores and generally enjoyed the cruise ship like grounds of the property, where they quickly made themselves at home.

Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa has spectacular plans for this year’s Spring Days of Discovery, an adventure-filled celebration that is an annual favorite among guests of all ages.

This year’s Spring Days of Discovery will feature complimentary activities such as the resort’s new great Inflatable Race, during which participants will dash side-by-side through a 60-foot inflatable castle and then work their way through a giant seven-foot maze. Also on the calendar, world-class pizza-making classes for future chefs and young foodies, capped by the firing of each student’s pizza in the SPC professional pizza oven.

My sons loved the pizza at SPC, and I loved that they had gluten free menu options. They also enjoyed the resort’s sushi bar, which is located close to the bar where I indulged in a cocktail and and snacks in the evening.

During the Spring Days of Discovery young guests can also try the latest video games inside an amazing 30-foot air-conditioned trailer which features seven flat screens and stadium seating for every gaming console. We did not get to try this, but I think my guys would have been in nirvana. It’s probably for the best, between this and the ability to order meals poolside, they would never have agreed to leave and come home.

During this special getaway period, overnight guests can also enjoy the resort’s Spring Break package. Valid from March 28 to April 12, 2017, the annual Spring Break package features overnight accommodations and a $50 per-night resort credit valid for spa treatments and dining at the resort. The package is timed to serve multiple vacation dates for schools and businesses and is priced from $289 USD per night plus tax and daily resort fee.

Located in the heart of greater Palm Springs, the 560-room Renaissance Indian Wells is acclaimed for its family-friendly swimming pool complex, sandy beach, award-winning spa, and comprehensive activities program which come to special life each year with the arrival of March and April.
