Last year I was thrilled to find The Other F Word series when Season 1 hit Amazon Prime streaming. When you have four kids like me your life is torn between feeling you can’t wait to have more time for yourself and being thrown for a bit of a loop when they begin moving out and making their own path in life. And finally, there was a witty, smart comedy written just for our demographic – women in their forties and fifties. And finally, Season 2 is here!
It’s not surprising that Season 1 of The Other F Word was a top-streaming series for over 4 months. It’s such a funny show with a lot of nuances and issues addressed. Writer Caytha Jentis created the show but worked with other moms and women entrepreneurs behind the scenes to help inform the stories that women are dealing with – from widowhood to separation, from children starting new careers to dropping out of college and how parents choose to handle those challenges. So many issues surrounding midlife are tackled in a savvy way that makes you laugh and think at the same time.
As a serial entrepreneur myself, one of the things I love about what Jentis is doing with this show is highlighting products and companies founded by other women. For example, through Season 2, you’ll find products featured from businesses like Adam & Eve, SheSpark, Pink Trunk, 10th Studio, Peach and more.
The second season cast lineup is as brilliant as the first season with many familiar faces – including Judy Gold, Steve Guttenberg, Gilbert Gottfried, Michael Boatman, Alysia Reiner and Nancy Giles. Plus, former Comedy Central EVP and comedian Judy Gold joins Jentis as an Executive Producer. A fantastic line up that is sure to make the second season another huge success. But Jentis will be the first to say that any success relies on a team effort which is why she collaborates with others to get just the right tone throughout. For example, one of the scenes was co-written by Emmy award-winning TV-writer Judy Rothman Rofe who authored Neurotic Parent, while the musical within the series is written by the award-winning playwriting team, Pam Weiler Grayson and Alice Jankell.
If you watched Season 1 of The Other F Word, you’ll be pleased with how Season 2 delves deeper into each character’s storyline. All six episodes of Season 2 are now available on Amazon Streaming and you don’t even need a Prime subscription to watch the show! If you haven’t seen the show yet – be sure to check it out starting with Season 1. Caytha is proving that Hollywood doesn’t have to be all about young parents and millennials – midlife matters matter!
