Getting ready for this holiday season has been one wild ride. You could say it’s been Christmas since July for me.
Ever since July I’ve been working in my workshop, building sculptures for a holiday light show for families in Southern California and busy designing & producing events.
2014 has been a year of amazing experiences. There is much to celebrate and be grateful for. Most notably: We welcomed the birth of my daughter Madelyn and got to take a sigh of relief that my mom has just beat her breast cancer.
Since Madelyn’s birth, I have been trying to juggle work and family and still have time to play as a new daddy. Typically during the holiday season at work, we are overwhelmed with holiday parties and functions. So many invitations and decisions about which events to go to; work events, charity events, friends and families events, my wife Mari’s holiday work parties…
When the invitation came to go to the 4th Annual Santa’s Secret Workshop, the timing was perfect. Serendipity and Santa’s magic.
Finally the chance to spend the day with my wife and daughter and get in the holiday spirit!
At 7 weeks old it was time for Madelyn to experience her first Hollywood event. The 4th Annual Santa’s Secret Workshop was at the Andaz Hotel in West Hollywood hosted by Bill Horn and Scout Masterson of Marque Communications.
As for me… I was excited to take my event producer’s hat off and just enjoy being a guest.
From the moment we arrived, we felt the joy and warmth of the season. The check in staff was full of smiles, a frothy beverage was waiting for us courtesy of Keurig. We were off to a great start.
Both my wife and I were beyond thrilled what we didn’t have to take Madelyn to see a Mall Santa. We got to hang with a true Hollywood Celebrity – Santa Claus.
Oh yeah, there were some other fun party people too – Sarah Michelle Gellar, Tiffani Thiessen, Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott, Kristin Davis, Haylie Duff, Lisa Rinna, James Van Der Beek, Nia Long, Phaedra Parks, Sean Murray, Owain Yeoman,Gilles Marini, Sara Rue, Beverley Mitchell, Lisa Ling, Donald Faison & Cacee Cobb, Majandra Delfino, Ian Ziering, Samantha Harris, Lindsay Sloane, Maria Sansone, Jessica St. Clair, Ryan Devlin, Marla Sokoloff,Marsha Thomason, Melissa Sagemiller, Sherri Saum, Lennon Parham, Brooke Anderson, Christie Lynn Smith, Mark Deklin, Ashley Williams, Autumn Reeser, David O’Donnell, Ashley Jones, Eric Ladin, Grant Show,Katherine LaNasa, Jennifer Aspen, Lex Medlin Kelly Stables, Shawn Hatosy, Marisol Nichols, Chudney Ross, and Courtney Lopez.
We loved running into Brooke Anderson – both our daughters were wearing the same fur vest!
Next we checked out the sponsors.
Bill and Scott did such a great job of curating the right mix of vendors to sponsor their holiday event. They showcased a perfect mix of young, cutting-edge brands and best-of-the-best staple brands, and the event benefitted a wonderful charity. It wasn’t about getting everything for us but rather getting items that would be used and truly appreciated in our house. We felt well and truly gifted! These goodies have been in our everyday rotation.
Our top favorites include:
Mama Bear Hoodie Sweatshirt from Loved by Hannah and EliA
A Diaper bag from Ju-Ju-Be
A toy from SugarBooger by ORE
Nail Clippers from ZoLi
Baby Wrap from Ergobaby – can you say GAME CHANGER!!?
Elephant Blanket from Monica + Andy
A new Keurig for Mommy and Daddy:
In the spirit of the holiday season, Marque Communication teamed up with the L.A. Family Housing (LAFH). The mission of this organization, is to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.
Guests brought diapers and wipes to donate, vendors made donations (both in cash and in kind), and 4moms donated 20 mamaRoo Infant Seats.
Visit the LAFH website for opportunities to support LAFH during this holiday season.
Now switching my from Dad mode to event producer mode!
To recap, this event had all the right elements of a perfectly executed event.
- Adult cocktails
- Yummy desserts (by Jenny Cookies)
- Brilliant holiday decor
- A friendly Santa Claus
- Hottest products this holiday season
- Amazing vibes
- Super friendly brand ambassadors
The only thing were we bummed about was that my wife Mari missed introducing Madelyn to Samantha Harris.
Hoping that this event becomes a family tradition in this Dadfluentials holiday line up. Can’t wait till next year.
Well done boys!
