Starbucks Style Passionfruit Lemonade Iced Tea Recipe

I have a little problem. I’m completely addicted to Starbucks Passionfruit/Lemonade Iced tea. It’s an expensive habit and I’m embarrassed to say how much I’ve already spent on the stuff this summer.  I could drink one ( a trenta!) every day.

So I have been experimenting with recipes and this one… is good. So good. So so so good.I hope you have a Trader Joe’s near you. I’ve experimented with several lemonades including homemade but for whatever reason, this is the one that did it. It’s important to note it is made with real sugar, and not too much of it.

Here’s what I did. I steeped FIVE Tazo passionfruit tea bags in 1.5 qts boiling water, and let it cool. I did this in a pyrex container with a spout.  When the tea was cool, I poured off half the container of lemonade into a 2 qt seal-able pitcher. I poured the tea into the lemonade, splitting it between the original container and the pitcher. Then I filled both with ice to top off. I served the mix over a cup of crushed ice and I don’t add any extra sweetener, it is sweet enough as is for me. You could sweeten if you like.

That’s it! Four quarts of passionfruit lemonade iced tea. For a fraction of the price. You can send me Starbucks cards to thank me. I still can’t make coffee like theirs at home!

I don’t sweeten at all! Same as how I order it at Starbucks. It’s made with lemonade that has some sweetener in it but it is watered down to about a third and I don’t add any additional when I order or when I make at home!

What kind of syrup do you use to sweeten the passion fruit tea lemonade?

I use agave syrup but you can also use simple syrup which is sugar dissolved in boiling water.
