Forgive me please… but these little cake balls really are the bomb!
You can use your favorite cake ball recipe for these but I used a BabyCakes Cake ball maker to bake the balls. I’m all about easy and prefer plainer, fluffier cakeballs to the frosting mixed-in cake balls.
For the cake batter I “doctored” a regular box mix, replacing the water with a cup of buttermilk and using four eggs instead of three – a cupcake trick I learned from AngryJulie – works great for cake balls too.
Then the fun part…decorating!
After chilling the balls we dipped them into melted almond bark (white chocolate). Incidentally, I like to use a mini crock pot to hold melted chocolate. I didn’t buy for that purpose – it was a freebie with my full size crockpot but has proven to be a cake ball making lifesaver. Easy is my mantra.
Before the melted chocolate set we added sprinkles and a fuse. For the short part of the fuse we used segments of snipped red vines. For the long part we used shoestring licorice, and dunked the end in white chocolate and a little sparkly sugar.
Boom!
Happy 4th of July!
Props to my pal Stacey who helped make these beauties.
These are so fun!! A playful dessert for the 4th 🙂
Girl!!! you are awesome and so are your balls.

I would love to make the ball bombs.
Do you bake them? or chill them?
They look like so much fun….!!!
Thanks a bunch,
