The morning I found out I was pregnant with my third child I went in to shock… okay maybe a bit of panic mixed in. It’s been 10 years since I delivered my second son and I was terrified I had forgotten how to do the pregnancy thing! After the shock wore off, my instincts kicked in. I immediately started taking mental stock of everything in the house from cleaning products to personal care items.
I wanted to be sure I went through this pregnancy with as little extra chemicals in my system as possible. Before pregnancy we had already been making many switches in our house, swapping out hand soaps for natural ones, the same for body washes and just about all household cleaning products. I wouldn’t call our home totally organic… but we’re getting there.
Next on my list of worries was the dreaded stretch mark issue. How to prevent stretch marks in this pregnancy?!
I have big babies. Really big babies. My first was 9’9″ and my second was not far behind coming in at 9’4″. I can’t even count how many times I would be asked if I was having twins!
My stomach is already a roadmap of honor but I wanted to go in to this pregnancy as ready for the battle as possible – stretch mark battle that is! I read everything I could find on the internet about stretch mark prevention, or in my case, prevent additional ones!
Over and over again the most consistent pieces of advice I found were to be well hydrated all the time and to use a very moisturizing lotion every single day. So I was determined to find a natural and super hydrating belly cream to use, in addition to my commitment to always stay hydrated.
I’ve tried more products than I can count – everything from oils to creams to plain coconut oil. I’m proud to say I have used something on my belly every single day since I found out I was pregnant and (knock on wood!) I don’t have any new stretch marks!
