Making a Case for Invisalign

Since I began treatment witn Invisalign a couple of months ago, I’ve become a little famous in my family for “misplacing” my aligners.

“Has anybody seen my teeth?”  I yell.

“What are you? 100 years old?” scold my daughters. “Where did you see them last? Try to remember…”

Part of the problem with keeping track of the aligners is that you don’t see them. Not only do they disappear in your mouth, but also on your kitchen counter.  Orthodontists are famous for telling you to make sure you have your case with you at all times and that you use it. The ol’ retainer wrapped in a napkin on the lunch tray (and then thrown away) story is legend.

So in the hopes of not losing my aligners and also keeping my mouth fresh and clean, I’ve set myself up with a bunch of “kits” and cases. The Invisalign aligners originally came with a couple of cases (which I have tucked into my handbags) but as they have no room for teeth cleaning devices and I tend to switch handbags a lot (and I have a thing for cute, well organized little kits & containers) I thought I’d make some easy to grab kits for myself. I included all the tools and supplies I’ve found helpful while out and about including:

  • disposable single use toothbrushes
  • portable toothbrushes
  • mouthwash
  • mini brushes made for braces
  • disposable flossers
  • hand sanitizing wipes (which I use frequently to clean out the cases while on the go)

Note: I sort of wish there were wipes you could use to clean the aligners. It would be handy in situations (such as on a road trip or flight) where you don’t have access to fresh running water.

I re-purposed a baby wipes case and a pencil case as a sort of handy hold-all for all the things I like to have on hand. I’m especially loving the baby wipes case idea! It is very easy to clean and the perfect size and shape to keep all my supplies organized.

Disclosure: I am a member of the Invisalign Mom Advisory Board and have been compensated for my participation in this program. All opinions are my own, as usual. The idea for this carrying case and the supplies I have included are solely based on my opinion and my ideas of what is working for me!

DentaKit has just what you want for wipes-on-the-go for aligners, at http://www.dentakit.com/clfrgoto.html. I’m not connected with the company – I just like and recommend many of their products. Good luck with your aligner adventure! Pam Waterman, http://www.MetalMouthMedia.net
