It happened again. Spontaneous Ikea Lack hack. We have a knack for Lack hacks.

My Master Bedroom closet is rather large, even for a walk in. Most of it is (thankfully) full of built ins, and yet I still run out of storage space. In So Cal most homes don’t have basements and attics. We don’t even have much space for storage in our garage. All we have is the closet.

Up until recently our closet sported a seat under the window. I’d had visions of sitting down to put put my shoes on n the closet. The reality was that I never got to do this. The chair was always draped in clothes and had a basket or two of laundry perched precariously on top of it.

I came up with the idea of repurposing these two Ikea Lack tables when they were sitting in the hallway, ready for Craigslist. The tables used to live in our family library, where they saw plenty of use and abuse by our four kids. One of the surfaces had a little waterdamage.

I stacked the tables to clear the path for the coffee table I was replacing them with. As I walked by I realized that the height of the stacked tables was just perfect for folding. I got an idea.

After we measured, I found that the tables fit PERFECTLY in the space between the shelves, under the window in our closet. There is room underneath for baskets to store socks, shoes and other items. I put the table with the damaged surface on the bottom and used double sided mirror mounting tape to secure the stacked tables. The snug fit between existing shelves provides added security.

I’m so happy to have a place to deposit laundry baskets and fold clothes to be put away in my closet. I don’t miss the chair one bit. I snapped a quick photo, and had to share. Nothing styled, this is my messy closet as is.

What a happy Ikea Lack hack !
