After months and months (and months) I am finally there! My Invisalign treatment is coming to a finish.
Well… almost.
It seems I’m one of the small percentage of patients that needs revisions. These revisions can take a short or a long time. My orthodontist is cutting my original treatment short (I’m on tray 20 of 33) rather than wait till the very end. It’s obvious that I have a couple of stubborn teeth that have not tracked as originally planned.
So what’s a revision?
Revision is when you sort of start over. Last week I had a new set of molds made (and faced my mold-making anxiety again). It really wasn’t bad the first time I had the molds done, so I am not sure why I had any anxiety about the second time around. Predictably, it was not bad at all.
Before the orthodontist took the impressions he filed down the “buttons” that they’d placed on my teeth when the whole process started. The buttons are little bumps that are cemented to your teeth, in order to help Invisalign trays line up and push your teeth more effectively. It’s funny, as weird as the buttons felt when they were first applied, it feels almost strange for them to be gone. I won’t miss them when I eat a salad!
I was also worried about having the buttons ground down but my worries ended up being unfounded. This was no more stressful really than having your teeth polished.
I have to wait to see how many months of trays I’ll need to “refine” my results. I’m willing to be patient because the results I have gotten so far are so amazing. I never thought I’d have such perfect teeth.
Next up, my daughter. She’s still a few months away from starting her trays and cannot wait to get out of her traditional braces and into Invisalign!
Disclosure: I am a member of the Invisalign Mom Advisory Board and have been compensated for sharing my experience with this product. I probably won’t be compensated for this artwork, however. All opinions as per usual, are my own. Thanks for following along.

Hmm.. never heard of revision before. I am looking into getting invisalign, and I sure hope that I there aren’t any set backs. Thanks for the information!
It would be a dream of mine to be on the Invisalign MAB! Do you have any suggetions as to how to be considered?
