Thanks to etnies #Get4Giving for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own. Ever since we visited the etnies HQ last summer, my 6 year old son has been telling people he is going to be a designer. He was so impressed with them, they may have inspired his future career. He’s ready to apply for an apprentice-ship, should one open up.
etnies is definitely a company to be impressed with.
You may already know that they make quality shoes – from cool crib shoes for baby, to adorable and durable toddler & big kid shoes & even adult styles. But what you may not know about this inspiring company is that etnies goes way beyond cool style. etnies gives back.
etnies donates thousands of shoes to at-risk children and the homeless on an annual basis and gives back to their community and to world at large, in many ways, every day.
Giving back is at the core of etnies culture. The yiddish word “mensch” comes to mind when I think about how this company operates.
- Every year they host their annual etnies Holiday Festival, where 500 at-risk kids in Orange County are treated to a day of skating demos by pros, Santa (on a skateboard, of course!) and the gift of brand new etnies shoes.
- Every yeat they donate 2,000 pairs of shoes to the homeless at the Los Angeles Mission
- They created and built the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest as a community resource for locals.
- Happy Feet, Happy Forests — For every pair of etnies Kids shoes sold, a tree will be planted. etnies’ “Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree” reforestation program helps kids see that their happy feet means a happy forest.
I’m amazed daily by the durability of my kid’s etnies. My sons have been dishing daily little boy abuse to their Scouts for two seasons now and they look almost as good as new. They must feel great too as they are the shoes that the boys grab every single day. I don’t need to buy new ones but I’m tempted to get some in different colors just to shake things up a little!
I also love these rust colored Maranas. Pantone just announced a very similar color of the year. Not even a little surprised that etnies saw that one coming!
