True fans of the movie Cars are undoubtedly headed to The Disneyland Resort this summer to check out the brand new (opening today!) Carsland section of the California Adventure park.
If it’s a road trip out west, and you’re rolling down Rte 66, why not get the Cars party started a little sooner? Consider a pit stop in Kingman, Seligman or venture to Peach Springs, the town most geographically similar to, and often referred to as the “real” Radiator Springs.
Note: Radiator Springs was actually an amalgam of multiple towns, but Peach Springs is close “real life” example that fans will enjoy seeing.
If you’re looking for quick fix, Seligman is a perfect pit stop for Cars fans and fans of Rte 66. Bring a camera. There’s plenty of fabulous photo ops. There’s also kitschy shopping, and couple of places to grab lunch. Delgadillo’s Snow Cap is a famous and oft recommended choice, but we went rogue andย sampled the fare at the Road Kill Cafe.
Is that the Roadkill Cafe that’s way off I-40? I’ve been there, done that and bought the shot glasses. Need to go again.
I’m jealous that Janice is there right now. I look forward to bringing my girls there one day.
How fun! I love road trips and I had no idea Peach Springs was similar to Radiator Springs. PS We can’t wait for Cars Land!
Hey girl, nothing like a little trip down history lane. I miss the highways of my youth (circa 1970) and would love to share those landmarks with my kids (How I loved the DuPars off the 101 on the way to Santa Barbara- the best grilled cheese and vanilla shakes ever).
I’ve always wanted to do this – but the farthest east I’ve gotten on Route 66 is Claremont. ๐
A road trip down Historic Route 66 is my husband’s fantasy summer vacaton, I’m not kidding. ๐
I love this! I didn’t know it was based after real towns. We’re so going to seek them out on our next roadtrip.
My son is completey obsessed with Cars and Lightening McQueen! I can’t wait to take him to Cars Land!
