Have you had roast cauliflower? It’s one of those things that sounds so annoyingly healthy but probably not so delicious until you taste it and then think OH MY GAWD.
This is good for me? Because it’s I-can’t-stop-eating-it Doritoes good. Go ahead. Pig out. Eat a whole head of Cauliflower. No guilt needed.
I’ve tried roasting cauliflower in a hot oven many times, with assorted toppings and luck. The most annoying part is chopping and tossing it. So when I came up with the idea of roasting a whole head of it in the airfryer, I got excited! The idea was to roast at a lower temp to cook thru, followed by a higher temp to crisp the oustide and get it all nice and crusty.
Thanks to Philips Air Fryer for sending me a unit to review and try out some new summer supper recipes with. All opinions are my own.
To serve, I simply plated it and cut up in wedges. There were no leftovers. Not one scrap. Even my kids gobbled this up.
To make a whole head of roast cauliflower in a Philips Air Fryer:
- Use a small head of cauliflower and trim/clean the base to fit easily in the Air Fryer basket.
- Mix 1/3 c whole or lowfat greek yogurt or leben cheese (a little richer but SO good for this) and 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander, 1 tbs honey, salt and pepper to taste. If you like things spicy, toss in some cayenne.
- Set the cauliflower into a bowl or onto a plate and then use your hands to coat the cauliflower with this mixture, massaging into the interstices and let sit for a half hour or so (up to an hour) on the counter at room temp to soak in the flavors.
- Preheat your air fryer.
- Wipe off the cauliflower, so it is not so wet and drippy with the coating, but don’t feel like you have to clean it all off. Place the cauliflower into the fryer basket and cook on 360 for 10-12 minutes until it is starting to soften and brown slightly. Turn up heat to 390 and cook for 3 minute intervals until the cauliflower is soft on the inside, brown and crispy on the outside. Enjoy!
Next up, we’ll be roasting chickpeas in our Air Fryer.
I have not tried this yet but will very soon. There is a need for more that phillips gives us in their little book that comes with airfryer. Keep them coming, please, please.
I despise the taste of the yogurt, and I’m not at all familiar with leben cheese. Is there anything else, like sour cream, that can be used as a substitute?
I just happen to have a small head of cauliflower in the fridge and will try this recipe tonight…..I have a few dipping sauces that I can mix with Greek yogurt. Thanks for the recipe!
Sourcream would work just fine.Mascarpone would also work. The trick is to not have too much moisture.
