img_0419I remember how much I wanted a Lava® Lamp  as a kid. I thought they were the coolest thing ever, and could not wait to decorate my room with one.  My older brothers had one in their groovy 70s themed room so of course I wanted one too. I loved the dreamy cast the light created at night – all warm and cozy.

Thanks to Lava Lamp for the chance to review the new designs – just in time for holiday gifting! All opinions are my own

My love of Lava Lamps goes way back

My fascination with Lava Lamps continued through my college years, where I brought a lamp to my dorm. It was one of my most prized possessions – my nightlight and the center of my boho decor theme.

Not much has changed, except now it’s a lot easier and more affordable to get ahold of these iconic lamps. My kids are just as fascinated with them now as I was then.

More variety means there is is a Lava Lamp for almost anyone!

I couldn’t believe it when I looked at a recent catalog for Lava Lamps. Nowadays there are so many styles to choose from! The classic Lava Lamps are now available in a variety of colors and there are also glitter lamps to choose from.

My kids have been begging me for a Lava Lamp since seeing some in store last summer. I was thrilled for the chance to review these updated versions. We chose a rainbow Lava Lamp and a StarVortex Lamp in Silver. Both of these feel fresh and modern.

The Rainbow Lava Lamp achieves the effect of color changing lava with tinted glass.

The Star Vortex Lamp is filled with swirling star shaped glitter and a color changing light that makes your room feel celestial at night.

Both lamps have a calming/soothing effect and my kids love them!

I should note that they do need to be used with some supervision as they can get hot. Make sure to place the lamps in a safe and stable location. They are suitable for older kids.

The perfect older kid gift for the holidays

It’s so hard to come up with unique holiday presents, especially for tweens and teens who seem to have everything, and also if you are trying to avoid electronic game type items. These lamps will be enjoyed for years to come! I love these Lava Lamps for the holidays.

Think my husband would mind if we got a set in our bedroom?
