Life is better in the bubble – the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker bubble, that is.
I have been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions are my own.
Before wifi, there was hifi. As a little girl I used to love to put my dad’s gigantic headphones on and listen to his stereo. I can still remember the immersive experience and the way that you not only heard, but felt the bass.
High quality sound has the power to transport and transform you. I wear Bose noise cancelling headphones when I fly and occasionally when I work. Sometimes the headphones do too good of a job of blocking ambient sound.
If the doorbell rings or one of my kids call out to me from another room, I want to be able to hear them. I also hate driving with earphones in. This has made it impossible for me take calls in one of my cars. None of my crufty solutions for this perennial problem have stuck. Cheap speakers fall on the car floor and need to be lugged from room to room. They deliver mediocre sound quality at best. Who wants to listen to their music like that?
Up until recently there was no real middle ground. But the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker changes everything for me. Not only does it make my drive time safer, it makes my whole life better. I feel like Dorothy waking up in Oz. Sure I could see before. But suddenly everything is in technicolor.
Music is important. Sound is important. I’m talking that toe curling surround sound that I remember from my daddy’s giant headphones. Minus all the weight and discomfort.

What’s so funny about the Bose SoundWear Companion speaker is that although you can sort of hear what someone is listening to, you cannot truly understand what they are hearing, until you put it on. From a distance, on someone else, it sounds like an average dimmed speaker, volume dialed way down. No big deal. But put it on? Whoa!
I had so much fun slipping this onto each of my kids necks, and watching their eyes go wide with shock. It’s genuinely surprising that way. Put it on and suddenly you are in the bubble. You not only hear it but feel it, vibrating a little, into your collarbones, a multi-sensory experience. It’s an invisible bubble of deep rich sound. It’s like having a secret superpower.
These are my favorite features of the Bose SoundWear Companion:
- Immerses you in surprisingly deep, clear sound for a wearable speaker, with two 11-inch waveguides in the flexible neckband.
- With your ears free, stay aware of what’s around you while you enjoy your music.
- So comfortable you can wear it all day long. (I have even slept while wearing it).
- Up to 12 hours of play time from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
- Sweat- and weather-resistant design (IPX4-rated) keeps you worry-free if you’re caught in the rain.
- Answer calls, or access your phone’s Siri or your Google Assistant through the speaker with the press of a button.
- Effortless 2 minute set up and wireless Bluetooth pairing made easier with voice prompts.
I am so delighted to be able to safely take calls or access Siri/Google Assistant in my car. I am a happier person for having more music in my life.
The Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker is that rare combo of want and need, solving problems but also scratching that itch for luxury, for finer things, for exciting the senses. I love it so!
