Recently my teenaged daughter went to Catalina Island with friends and after napping on the beach, came home with a scathing burn. I felt terrible for her.
She was wearing a sunscreen. But apparently she had an allergic reaction to the sunscreen and the end result was a false sense of safety, and a terrible burn. I feel just terrible for not sending her off with Block Island Organics Mineral Sunscreen.
I’ve long been allergic to sunscreens with ingredients like Avobenzene and Octinoxate. After even brief exposure, I’ve ended up burnt even worse when I use these kinds of sunscreens, than if I used nothing at all.
So I don’t use chemical sunscreens. I search the shelves and the internet for sunscreens that contain zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, safer and gentler (and extremely effective) options that until recently were mostly found in infant formulations. This is changing, as more and more people, like myself and my daughter are developing problems with chemical sunscreens.
People think that mineral based sunscreens are sticky and gluey. They think of the white & neon pastes that lifeguards smear on their nose. Who wants that kind of war paint on their whole body?
Block Island Organics Mineral sunscreens are not like that. They apply easily and feel great. Living in Southern California, sunscreens are a part of our daily life. I’m so thrilled to have found a great one that I can rely upon to keep my family covered. I just have to make sure my teenaged daughter uses it!
