I first heard about the Jerusalem escape room experiences at Jerusalem Puzzle Quest from my friend Joanna over at Fun in Jerusalem. Joanna is the authority on everything amazing there there is to do in Jerusalem (and beyond) with kids. So I trusted her, completely. But I had no idea what a hit this escape activity would be when she booked an outing together with our tween/teenaged families.
My kids will tell you Puzzle Quest is on their vacation top list, possibly their favorite activity from our recent month of travels in Israel and beyond.
Who knew one of the highlights of our recent trip to Jerusalem would be found at a cleverly decorated building at the back of a parking garage on Pierre Konig street in the industrial Talpiot neighborhood?
Our family has been to Jerusalem a few times. We all love the history, the culture, the museums and archeological treasures that can be found around every corner and in every park. Despite our nerdly love for ancient history, there is always the risk of burn out. You’ll know you’ve gone to far when your kids emit a certain low frequency groan and cry out “Nooooo! Not another pile of ancient rocks! Please Mom! We’ve had enough!”
You don’t want to get there. Trust me. Once you’ve reached pile of ancient rocks rebellion, you’re done with museums and walking tours for the foreseeable future. This is why it’s critical on any family vacation to break it up with something different.
For families with teens and tweens, and anyone who enjoys a challenge, Jerusalem Puzzle Quest is an incredibly fun activity that is not to be missed.
What I love about Jerusalem Puzzle Quest’s escape rooms is that they weave in local flavor, legend and lore. They deliver an escape room experience that will satisfy both the experienced escape room enthusiast as well as the escape room first timer who is a Jerusalem aficionado. There are two escape rooms to choose from.
Both of the escape rooms are completely different experiences. I can’t show you much but here’s my crew with their Fun in Jerusalem pals, entering the Kabbalist’s Secret puzzle room.
Here’s some fast facts about the Jerusalem Puzzle Quest experience:
- Escape rooms are a popular activity where you are “locked” in a room, or a series of rooms in some cases, and given a backstory and series of puzzles/problems to solve in order to win and escape.
- Anything and everything in the room can be a clue. Be thorough.
- Jerusalem’s Puzzle Quest activity is suitable for small to medium sized groups. Solving the problems will require some amount of teamwork!
- You don’t need to be particularly strong to solve the puzzles, no brute force is required. Cleverness is essential
- Puzzle Quest has both Hebrew and English clues and directions.
We solved one of the puzzles and escaped, and came close to solving in the other. Don’t feel bad if you don’t figure it out. Most people don’t escape in time, but they sure do have fun trying.
I wish I could tell you more about the individual experiences but I’d hate to spoil your experience. You’ll have to go and see/solve it for yourself! Book your Puzzle Quest adventure through the Fun in Jerusalem portal, where you will discover even more awesome stuff to do.
