Have you ever wondered what happens to all the pumpkins that don’t get carved for Halloween?
If you are looking for a family adventure, head on to the city of Fullerton this Saturday for some Fall fun!
Discovery Cube, in partnership with California State University, Fullerton, and the George Westrom & Family Foundation will bring a Pumpkin Launch on November 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
My family is thrilled about this exciting event! Teams made up of local schools, college students, as well as local families, will compete and apply their engineering skills to create pumpkin catapults to launch pumpkins at targets…. A winner will be named for most amount of points accrued by hitting targets at varying distances!
California State University, Fullerton, Intramural Field, 800 N State College Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92831
Media parking will be available at the State College Parking Structure located off of N. State College Blvd and Gymnasium Campus Dr.
My son is most excited about watching flying pumpkins after being launched from giant trebuchets.
Additional activities include:
- Building catapults with Popsicle sticks
- Designing paper airplanes for distance and accuracy
- Launching marshmallows at mini targets
- Engineering standalone block towers
- Launching film canister rockets
- Archery Demonstration
My kiddos will also have an opportunity to meet student engineers from the University to learn how their event experiences translate into everyday STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and engineering practices. Super cool!
A winner will be named for most amount of points accrued by hitting targets at varying distances. Hope to see you this Saturday. RSVP online at the Pumpkin Launch!
