There’s a new foodie hotspot in Downtown Santa Ana. Black Box is lighting up the local foodie circuit and drawing rave reviews.
I was born and raised in Santa Ana and I’ve watched my hometown transform into a urban hot spot. The heart of Santa Ana beats strong, reflecting its rich culture, diversity, food, and passionate people. The art deco buildings, Artist Village, culture, and good eats draw visitors from all over the world.
Luckily, Downtown Santa Ana has a wide variety of food choices ranging from tacos, to all-American burgers, and inspired culinary dining.
Black Box,” (formerly known as the Little Sparrow) is the latest bright light to light up the Santa Ana night scene. A bunch of my foodie besties and I went to check out the new revamped eatery.
Thank you Gigasavvy and Black Box for inviting me to your foodie and cocktail press event. All opinions are my own.
This chic restaurant is eclectic and modern. Black Box is a great place to meet up after work for a quick burger and drink with friends.
The menu is simple and unpretentious. They have tasty bites including burgers, fries, sandwiches, and chicken strips.
Black Box Burgers:
“Francois” was a big hit among my fellow foodie pals. It consists of 6 oz Angus beef patty, roasted red onions, Brie cheese, lemon aioli, applewood smoked bacon.
The Danish blue cheese in the Blue Lines burger was also pure deliciousness. Perfection, paired with basil aioli and bacon. It was devoured before I got any more photos.
You must try the Irish Nachos (below). You will thank me later.
Is Black Box Family friendly?
If you are wondering whether it’s family friendly… yes you can bring the kids. But only if they are really good and deserve a treat! On Sundays you can get a free kid’s burger with every adult burger ordered from 5:30-8 pm.
The drinks are also something really special here. I have a great appreciation for craft drinks and who doesn’t love a bar that is well and tastefully stocked with classic liquor.
The talented mixologists on staff have a background in biology and food science. There is a vegan mixologist too!
The pre-prohibition cocktails are creative and beautifully handcrafted. Each cocktail we tried had a unique spin.
Drinks to Try at Black Box:
Arsenic and Old Lace, Saint Junipero, Penicillin #2.
Black Box has a great ambiance, tasty bites, and craft drinks, and you can even bring the kids. What more can you ask for? Santa Ana, you just made my heart thump even more.
Happy Hour every Wednesday and Sunday 5:30 to 8:00 pm
