Thanks to Invisalign for sponsoring this post, all opinions are my own
The fact that those are my two daughters smiling above, brought this story home and full circle for me. I’m so proud of my girls and all that they do and are. The idea that they would (did) hesitate to smile, due to being self conscious about their teeth, is a heartbreaking thought.
I’ve witnessed that hesitation diminish over the years, but I still recall how my older daughter would literally hold her hand over her mouth every time she accidentally smiled (she couldn’t help herself, she’s a smiler) so that nobody would see her teeth. I’m not sure if she remembers doing that. It was like she was trying to smother joy.
My younger daughter, slower to grin, would nip the urge before it blossomed. The first few times I saw her fully smiling without a thought after her treatment, I almost cried. Her smile is so beautiful. It could probably promote world peace.
We are all grateful to Invisalign for not only straightening and correcting our family’s teeth but for gifting us back my daughters’ smiles and confidence. It’s a small thing that’s really a big thing. I wish for all moms and daughters, more smiles, more confidence. Imagine the things we could all do.
