There is a certain kiosk in Epcot that stops me in my tracks every time I have visited. I cannot walk by The Bead Outpost without stopping to admire the beautiful beads and jewelry, all made from recycled Disney paper materials.
It’s fun to try and guess what each of these might have been, before they were beads. Guide maps? Show schedules? Special event flyers? Maybe they were brochures for Disney Vacation clubs.
Whatever they were, they sure were colorful. And now they have a second chance to make someone smile.
I am a huge fan of fair trade goods that reward artists with a living wage. There’s plenty plastic junk to purchase on every vacation but my souvenir dollars are in these types of memories, touched by human hands and crafted with intention, all while recycling something that might have otherwise landed in a landfill. That’s some serious Disney magic there.
