Halloween is a great time of year to throw a special theme party. My neighbors love to have a block party each year and and I try to come up with a theme for my snack contribution. We’re watching some classic Peanuts films at our block party and in light of the new Peanuts Movie opening in theaters on November 6th, I thought it would be fun to come up with some Peanuts themed treats.
I hit my local Albertson’s for supplies. Did you know they are giving away cute trick or treat bags right now and running a Peanuts sweepstakes?
Rice Krispie Treats are always the hit of the party. Check out how I made Charlie Brown’s Krispy shirts. I followed the basic Rice Krispie treats recipe on the box, spread a thin layer of treats on a baking sheet and used a well butered t-shirt shaped cookie cutter to cut out the t-shirt shapes.
I iced the treats with yellow tinted melting chocolate and stuck in the fridge to firm up. Then I decorated the shirts with a chocolate Rick Rack zig-zag. It’s super easy to do this if you spoon some melted chocolate chips into a Ziploc bag and snip the corner.
They are pretty tasty, as well as cute!
Next I decided to upcycle the Rice Krispie box into Lucy’s Psychiatry Booth. Call it Pop Psych…. The Doctor is In with Pop Secret Popcorn, which is what we put inside the completed box/booth.
This was also a super simple project. I cut a hole in the middle of the box, and covered it with red paper. I used two straws to support the sign (made from the piece cut out in the middle). 5 cents for advice, the popcorn will cost you extra.
What party is complete without some chocolate? I found Peanuts Movie theme Nestle Crunch bars at Albertsons. There are 8 different characters embossed on the chocolate bars. How cute is thatt?!
I have already taken a bite out of Schoeder’s piano. Maybe Snoopy is next. I scored a pretty cute Peanuts trick-or-treat bag (pictured above) with my party purchases. It will come in handy at Halloween!
