So many underprivileged children are missing out on the childhood they deserve. Sadly, play is disappearing at home, at school and in communities, particularly for the 16 million children living in poor living conditions. Playtime is a crucial part in a child’s development. Imagination, socialization, and physical activity is important for a child’s healthy growth.
On Saturday May 2nd, 2015 seven hundred participants transformed 27-acre Twila Reid Park in west Anaheim. This marks the eighth Orange County KaBOOM! The incredible playground built is the largest nationwide. It provides a fun, colorful, awesome play space that can accommodate up to 13,500 kidos. This is Disney’s 60th KaBOOM!
This group didn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting a little dirty. Besides it was for a great cause. From hauling dirt to assembling the new play equipment this group worked together to make it happen!
KaBOOM! is a national non-profit dedicated to giving all kids the childhood they deserve, filled with balanced and active play, so they can thrive.
KaBOOM! works to bring balanced and active play into the daily lives of all children, particularly those growing up in poverty in America. We do this by creating great places to play, inspiring communities to promote and support play and driving the national discussion about the importance of play in fostering healthy and productive lives.
Founder and CEO Darell Hammond. “At KaBOOM!, we believe every kid deserves a childhood, filled with balanced and active play, so they can thrive, and our partner, Disney understands this well. Their work is creating a more playable community and ensuring a bright future for all kids in Anaheim.”
