I hate losing my luggage, so I don’t take chances. I label everything, inside and out, even though it’s overkill. You can see us coming from a mile away
We travel bright.
Bright luggage is harder to lose, less likely to be stolen (it calls too much attention).
Bright bags also photograph well (and cheer you up!) in gray airports, dark alleys and ancient cities.
Color is often the key that unlocks my travel photography and transform it into the stuff that memories are made of.
I can remember this moment so clearly when I look at this photo. It’s the color. The shock of the sun in my son’s hair that makes it catch fire.
Sometimes I have to help the colors develop.
A colorful filter turned a ho hum picture of a VW van into a serendipitous work of art. I think it better reflects the vehicle’s “true colors”, don’t you?
I can be dark and stormy too. Some days I want to tone it down. But not often when I travel.
What about you? Do you dream of travel in color or in black and white?
This post is part of Instagram Travel Thursday, hosted by some excellent travel bloggers including my friend Elena of Live Do Grow. I loved following her cruise and especially loved looking at Elena’s photos of Santorini last month as she traveled brightly over the same streets I strolled the month before. We even took photos of some of the same technicolor doors.
