I’m in love with Spud.
Last month I was asked to try out their new juice box delivery service.
I was already a fan of juicing. A little over a year ago I purchased a Breville juicer and started experimenting. One problem: there are not a lot places to get organic produce near my home. They are all a little ways away from my usual daily routes and I just don’t feel great about juicing stuff that is covered in pesticides. Kinda defeats the purpose!
Enter Spud. Spud delivers the organic produce directly to my doorstep (thank you). They source the freshest local offerings and offer them up at prices comparable to the stores I’d spend an hour plus driving to and from. Farm to table, literally.
Best of all, Spud preselects the produce for special juicing boxes and includes recipes with the ingredients they deliver so I can start juicing right away. It’s a tremendous savings over what I’d pay at a juice bar and I love that there is no waste or missing ingredients. I have exactly what I need to make the juice I want. I tried these two recipes with the last delivery and both were great!
I still have my own custom blend however. I call this one Swamp Juice because it is so bright green and a little frothy. I think it tastes delicious, especially on a hot day…
My favorite recipe:
- 1 green apple
- 1 small bunch of mint
- 1 small cucumber
- 1/3 lemon
- 1/2 inch ginger root
If you’ve been curious about juicing and didn’t know where/how to start, Spud has a fabulous deal right now. During the month of January, if you sign up to buy a juicer (with weekly installment payments) and 6-months of juicing boxes, you will receive a $140 SPUD gift certificate. Alternatively, if you want to do a one-time payment on a juicer, you’ll receive 4 weeks of organic produce free, a $140 value.
FYI: I prefer the Hurom juicer sold by Spud to our previous one as the mess is much less, and the flavor more intense – as if the juice contains more of the essence of the fruits and vegetables we’ve processed through it. It’s easier to clean and quieter to use as well. I cannot say enough great things about the Hurom Slow Juicer stocked by Spud. It’s made it easy for me to juice every day. See my video review above!
Disclosure: This post has been sponsored by Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery, a company that sources local and fresh produce for delivery to your doorstep, and MomsLA.com. While I was not compensated, I did receive product to try. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed your video review. It would be interesting to compare the nutritional values for both juices. I’m betting the Hurom juice has way more enzymes in it!
I really enjoy your blog;thanks for the great ideas
Thanks for your blog and video about this topic. I am in the process of deciding on a juicer – and was leaning toward the Breville Ikon, but after watching this I think I will go with the Hurom. I’m sure the time spent juicing isn’t that much different in the grand scheme of things.
We still love our Hurom!
