My middle child is about to get a big room redesign.
It’s been a long time coming and she’s had about six different ideas about the room of her dreams since we first started talking. I fear that like me, she might be a little fickle on the design front. Which is why we’re trying to stick to a budget!
According to my daughter, she’s never really had a room of her own. She’s always getting hand me down and temporary furniture. Like the bottom bunk of her sister’s really expensive bunk bed. The one that we got for her sister*.
So we are pretty much starting from scratch. I’ve started a pinboard to put the “look” together. See that blank space? It’s waiting for the perfect window coverings. Shoot me a note if you have a suggestion for three narrow windows and a french glass door.
Not surprising, given my budget and decades long devotion to all things IKEA (friends used to call my first apartment “Welcome to Ikea”), a lot of the items for her room redo are coming from IKEA.
I’m planning on doing some shopping on Saturday 1/14 as they are hosting their Bring A Friend Event. You can register on facebook for the event and for every one of your friends that you invite, Ikea will donate a buck to Feed the Children (up to 50k). There will be free meals & blue bags (with coupon) and assorted samples and services to check out. Don’t forget to sign up for Ikea Family while you shop. You get free coffee every time you visit when you do.
Also don’t forget to buy dark chocolate and caviar. Best deal in town.
Disclosure: I have not received any incentive to post from IKEA. Which is crazy. Have they not seen my hacked menorahs and Kura loft beds? Let alone my college apartment? Do they not know that I refer to my dresser as a Hemnes and the loveseat as a Klippan? Call me, Ikea. Let’s do Swedish lunch!
