From Hot Mess to Cool Mom in under 5 minutes

I’m fantasizing (again) about laying in a chaise lounge wrapped in a waffle weave cotton robe. In the fantasy my feet are up, cucumbers are on my eyelids, and I am sipping a fruit infused ice water as I await my next pampering treatment.

Snap back to reality. No chaise lounge. No fluffy waffle weave robe. I’ve barely had a moment to myself in a typically busy day. No time for hours in the spa! I hardly have time to sweep the floor before the crumbs regenerate. The kids keep leaving the back door open, and I’ve had to turn off the AC. My feet hurt and my afternoon eyes feel puffy. The only ice water is in a sippy cup being carried by my toddler. I’m tired. Whiny too, apparently. Hot. Mess.

It’s ok though.  I’ve got a “little something” stashed in my fridge

Oh shush. This mama is not a lush. By that “little something”, I mean cosmetic products. Of the secret weapon variety. It turns out I don’t need a whole spa day to rejuve… (though I’d accept one if one were offerred. Please.)   What I really need on a daily basis takes only five minutes or less.  I just needed to make a little space next to the milk to store two essential stress and exhaustion banishing products that literally chill me out.

1. Cucumber Tea Eye Gel:

Sleepless nights, first day of Kindergarten eye puffiness (I wasn’t crying, I swear…), and sad movies are no match for a good cucumber eye gel that is stored in the fridge. Save the spa slices for your salad.

2. Energizing Body Lotion:

Wish you’d had a nap when your toddler did? Me too. Aching feet and tired limbs worn out from kid chasing and back to school shopping for multiple offspring? Right there with you! I can’t make it all go away but I can promise that rubbing some chilled lotion on your forearms and calves can bring some instant relief. Particularly when the lotion smells great and brings back all those relaxing spa memories. It’s a trick of the senses, but a good one.

This is not rocket science. These are just a couple of little things to do for yourself that can conjure the return of your “get up and go” when you thought it had already got up and gone. A shot of chill in an otherwise hectic life.

Bonus side effect of self care: when I feel better, I look better. Almost like I was just at a spa.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I have been compensated by the brand in return for telling you about the cosmetics in my fridge. Opinions in this post and the (brilliant if I do say so myself) idea of chilling the Cucumber Tea Eye Gel and Energizing Lotion are all my own. My neighborhood friends have taken to popping over and opening the fridge and helping themselves to the lotion lately and a couple have ordered their own. I want credit for starting the trend!
