What Color Were Your Keds?

I’m getting a kick out of my daughter’s sudden fascination with Keds. I had them as a kid too. And oh what fun I had with my Keds. The custom lace jobs (with beads, glitter laces etc) and the hand painted versions…Painting my Keds was so much fun that I moved on to other shoes, like these flats that I painted after I was done painting my way through my sneaker collection circa 7th grade:

You can kind of see a little “Like mother, like daughter” in these two pictures, right?

Did you wear Keds as a kid? If so, what kind. How did you personalize them?

Disclosure: We received these shoes from Stride Rite for review. Thanks for the nostalgia!

Oh wow! I LOVED Keds as a kid! I went to Catholic school, so personalizing them was strictly against dress code! However, I had them in every color allowed with my uniform – white, navy, black, red. I think the white leather with the red “baseball” stitching were my all-time favorites, though.
By the way, totally love your painted flats! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane :)

Keds are coming back?!?! Totally going to get my daughter a pair. I only wore the white ones, but now that I’m older and more obnoxious… LOL
