Consider your Value! Advice from Momtrends

I couldn’t agree more with this vlog post by Nicole Feliciano of MomTrends. She very simply and succinctly lays out the argument as to why bloggers need to demand that their work is not unpaid. Blogging is not volunteer work (although, some posts and Ambassadorships CAN be, as is the case with my conscious decision to volunteer with Healthy Child Healthy World ). For every post a blogger writes and every hour spent on the blog, it’s important that you are aware why you are there and who you are really posting “for”. Particularly when there are brands involved.

So many bloggers are feeling, and being taken advantage of. I’d encourage you all to scrutinize your relationships with brands as you post and make sure that your time and effort aren’t being used for another’s gains. It really is that simple.

Writers should definitely value their contributions.

I thought you might enjoy this perspective from Harlan Ellison. Even after decades of being a published and accredited writer, he still struggle with getting paid as well.
