They say all the world loves a party and who am I to object? Which is why I am arriving (fashionably late as usual) to 5 Minutes For Mom’s Ultimate Blog Party.
Welcome to my place.
If you’ve never been here before you might have noticed that this site is very graphic and very click-y. Much of the content on this site is embeddable media (videos, slide shows, photos) from myself and others. I, like many harried moms, have ADD. I like pictures. I love to share, comment and compare. I like to quickly pop around the web. It’s not always easy for me to find the varied content I crave though, through text based links and searches. So I wanted to give others like myself a way to surf the family-webs that was POW. Visual. Instant gratification.
This community is an inclusive one. Which means I’d love for YOU to be a part of it too. Click on the share your story box to the right over there and you can submit your pics, video or slide shows from your favorite posts and guess what? I’d be thrilled to check it out, write about it (and you!) and post your videos and pics with links to your site, so more people can find out about you. I’d also love to list your button in our visual site directory, if you’re interested.
The funny thing about my site is that while it’s often about me, it’s more often about you. All of you. I’m not just interested in one particular group of mom bloggers. I’m interested in all of you. I know. Odd. I often find myself with lots of friends who don’t get along. But you know what? I don’t really mind.
I enjoy the discussion (nevertheless, no name calling here please) and the debate. You’re all interesting to me, even if we don’t believe each other’s religious, think each other’s child rearing practices are kooky and are about as likely to be BFFs as the lastest WifeSwap contestants. You’re all fascinating. And welcome.
Ok so enough you. More about me…
I’m a resident of Southern California, Orange County in particularly. I’m somewhat out of my demographic here (even my kids principal pegged me as an East Coast urbanite) and that makes for many humorous moments and observations. I am the mom of four crazy kids, aged 2-13.
If you do the math I’ve been schlepping a diaper bag for over a decade. There’s a whole lotta of been-there-done-that in my parenting arsenal, and that often comes out in my posts. And then sometimes I surprise myself, like I did last week when I let my daughter dye her hair red. I’ve been writing for assorted blogs from Celebrity Babies to Mommies With Style and LA Moms Blog since 2006.
I’m also a manufacturer (you can see my Francie Pants products on the Francie Pants site) and freelance copywriter/marketer. I was recently quoted in the controversial NYTimes article on mommy bloggers and wrote my own response to the NYTimes article here.
I’d like to be a good hostess so I promise if you leave me a comment, anywhere on my site this week and mention UBP10, I WILL visit your site and return the favor. Comments are like candy for us aren’t they? Who can get enough? Know what else is sweeter? I will select one random commenter from all the UBP10 comments I receive, to win a $40 gift certificate to be used on the Francie Pants website. It’s time to do those spring cartwheels girls!
Speaking of prizes, I read I was supposed to mention the things I would like to win. That’s easy! Target, Amazon, Starbucks! The bigger the better (make mine a venti!) and in any order.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the party. I know I will!
