Mom on Mom E-mail Action: Bullying Solution?

I’m loving this post from Debbie Lavdas of Debbie’s Hot Topics for OCFamily. Debbie’s asking for advice about what to do when your daughter is being bullied. Email the other mom? Tell her to push back, stomp on feet and pull hair when pinned against the wall? Take her out for ice cream for defending herself? What kind of possibly me horrible mother would give this advice? Dealing with bullies is tough parenting stuff. The urge to vent and the ability to shoot your slings and arrows off through cyberspace is sometimes irresistible. Click through to Debbie’s article on OCFamily to weigh in on this topic, or leave a comment here. Let’s discuss. How do you deal with it when your kid gets bullied?

LOL on the ice cream. My friend just gave orders to her 1st grader to kick his bully “in the balls.” So not so far from the truth perhaps. I cyberspaced, and am glad I did. But got no response so wonder about spam, etc vs had I called I would have known one way or the other. Dunno?

I did finally hear back from the Mom and she was very receptive, appreciated the email and didn’t know all the details, so things worked out. But I realized even if they hadn’t, I had to speak up, as it’s not my Mom friendships that matter, it’s my girl’s confidence, self-esteem and her witnessing it’s important to stand up for what’s right. Until the next 1st grade saga … it’s gonna be a long 15ish yrs ahead ;)
