On Being a Supportive Friend (Contains Curse Words!)

Jessica over at BernThis has cracked me up again. I’m not even sure why I am sharing this one except to say it totally cracked me up. We all try to be supportive but sometimes we’re not so successful. Subconscious sabotage? Spazz attack? Who the hell knows. I am just glad I am not the only one. Maybe don’t play this in front of the kiddos ok? I don’t want to get blamed when your four yr old says the F word at preschool.

i dropped a little girl off at her house one day, after a playdate with my daughter. i waited in the car until the mom came to the door to let this girl in. the mom waved to me and mouthed thank you. and i, to say thank you…flipped her off. i meant to wave back. but i shot her the freaking bird with my left hand. she looked shocked. i think i looked shocked. and i backed out of the driveway and zoomed off down the street…mortified.
i’m so glad to know that i’m not the only one!!

Hahaha… Amazing. I have TOTALLY been there, too! A few years back, a friend of mine got married over the summer between our first and second year of journalism school. When I walked in to the newsroom on the first day back, I was SO excited to see her, I waved and smiled and meant to hold up my hand with my ring finger like, “Come show me your ring!” Instead, I totally gave her the finger. So here I am, frantically waving and smiling, and then, flipping her off. Nothing says ‘I’m excited for you!’ like giving the finger, eh?
